Learning the alphabet

Is your child beginning to learn the alphabet? Use the letter sounds tab to create fun worksheets to help them!

Letter Sounds Worksheet – Letter sounds worksheets help students learn their letter sounds. Learning letter sounds is one of the more obvious first steps in reading. Before children can put letters together to create words, they will need to know their letter sounds. This can be tricky because a lot of letters have more than one sound. Vowels for example have a long vowel sound and a short vowel sound. Explaining this explicitly to children when they are first learning their letter sounds can be helpful in avoiding any confusion later. These letter sounds worksheets have pictures with different sounds for each letter.

Letter Writing Worksheet – As students get better at their letter sounds, they can use the letter writing worksheet to practice writing their letters and coming up with their own ideas of things that start with that letter.

Color the alphabet Worksheet – Color the alphabet is a fun way for students to practice their ABCs and use different mediums to fill in the letters. Let your child use highlighter, crayon, colored pencils, wiki sticks, or magnets to fill in the letters or even sand or sandpaper to practice writing the letters themselves while using this page as a guide.

Letter Recognition Worksheet –  The letter recognition worksheet is great for helping students match capital letters and lowercase letters.

Fill in the Missing Alphabet Worksheet – The Fill in the Missing Alphabet Worksheet allows students to practice their alphabet while finding the missing letters. The users can select how many letters are missing from the worksheet, and the worksheet will randomly generate the alphabet with that many missing letters.
